Trial spawners that were in the OMINOUS post-trial cooldown state at the exact moment of a server crash/rollback become permanently inactive after the server comes back up. They keep displaying the black/dark edge (the cooldown visual state) indefinitely and never spawn another wave.
This is NOT the normal 30-minute cooldown. I am fully aware of the standard 30-minute trial spawner cooldown. The affected spawners have now been observed stuck in this state for over 24 hours of continuous server uptime, which is far beyond the 30-minute cooldown. They never count down and never reset.
Concrete impact: I run an AFK ominous trial circuit at my base (drinking an Ominous Bottle and looping past the spawners in a minecart). Before the crash this reliably produced trial keys. After the crash, a 12-hour AFK session produced only 2 trial keys, because almost all of my spawners are frozen in the black-edge cooldown state and only the few that were NOT mid-cooldown at crash time still function.
I believe this is the same root cause as issue #2084, which was closed as "not planned" on the basis that "spawners have a cooldown." With respect, that explanation does not fit: the affected spawners remain dead for 24+ hours, not 30 minutes. #2084's reporter only documented the black-edge visual and a 2-hour window, which is why it was mistaken for normal cooldown. The actual bug is that the crash froze the cooldown timer so it never elapses.
To Reproduce
The bug only triggers under a specific timing condition relative to a server crash.
Reproduces (spawner becomes permanently dead):
Trigger an ominous trial (drink an Ominous Bottle so you have Trial Omen) and engage an ominous trial spawner.
Clear/finish the wave so the spawner enters its post-trial cooldown — its edge turns black/dark.
While the spawner is still WITHIN this ominous cooldown window (i.e. before the 30 minutes have elapsed), the server crashes / rolls back.
After the server restarts, return to that spawner and wait.
Result: the spawner stays in the black-edge cooldown state forever. It never resets to the normal (gray) state and never spawns a new wave, even after 24+ hours and with a player standing right next to it. Confirmed across multiple spawners.
Does NOT reproduce (spawner is unaffected):
The server crash happens when the spawner's cooldown had already finished, OR
The server crash happens while the spawner was in a NORMAL (non-ominous) trial cooldown, OR
The spawner was idle/active (not in cooldown) at crash time.
In short: only spawners that were mid-OMINOUS-cooldown at the instant of the crash get permanently frozen.
Expected behavior
After the 30-minute cooldown elapses, the spawner should reset — the edge returns to its normal (orange) state and it spawns a new wave when a player is nearby. A server crash/rollback should not freeze the cooldown timer or leave the spawner permanently stuck in the black-edge cooldown state.
Screenshots
Screenshot 1 — A trial spawner with WHITE corners.
This is the ONLY working spawner out of the 20 trial spawners in the underground of my town. It completed the normal 30-minute cooldown and can reactivate normally. This shows what a healthy spawner looks like.
Screenshot 2 — A trial spawner with BLACK corners.
The other 19 spawners were already in this black-corner state at the moment the server came back up after the crash. They have produced nothing for 24+ hours of continuous uptime and never reactivate. This is the bugged state.
Summary: 19 of 20 spawners are permanently frozen (black corners); only 1 (white corners) still functions.
Additional context
Same symptom and same trigger (server crash, black edge) as [Bug] Trial Chamber not spawning any wave #2084, which I believe was closed prematurely as normal cooldown. This report adds the missing evidence: 24+ hours stuck, far beyond 30 minutes.
A second player independently reported the identical symptom in the EarthMC trial-chamber community Discord, also following the same server crash. So this is not isolated to my base.
The black edge is the cooldown/ejection visual state. The bug appears to be that the crash-induced rollback failed to persist (or corrupted) the spawner's "next activation" / cooldown-end timestamp, so the cooldown never counts down and the spawner is locked.
Because this only affects spawners caught mid-ominous-cooldown by the crash, the damage is permanent and spreads with every crash that occurs during ominous activity. Affected spawners cannot self-recover and likely need a manual reset/reactivation by staff or a fix to restore the cooldown timer on load.
Concrete ratio: my town's underground has 20 trial spawners. After the crash, 19 of them are frozen with black corners and produce nothing, while only 1 (with white corners) still works normally. A 30-minute cooldown cannot explain 19 spawners being dead for over 24 hours.
