Some changes could be made to greatly reduce the coding effort for people using the tool (rough notes to be refined later):

• check value_name exists
• call-back check global.
• save/load
  • singleton
  • per slot
  • per save file
• apply settings func
• apply generic properties
  • choose which field a property should apply to
    • mapping from property to multiple things
• explicitly declare row type
• helper functions for menus and rows?
• json?
