Minecraft version 26.1 requires at least JRE 25

Hi,

I've been using mscs for about a year now, and first off, I gotta say the software is amazing. But yesterday I updated my Minecraft java server from 1.21.11 to 26.1. Now I can't start the server using mscs start <world_name>. It looks like its gonna start, and then it fails saying it can't find the process ID of the server. I already had the latest version of mscs, and I'm using java 21

Hi @coryellcottage.

Please take a look at the console.out file for the world server. The default location for this would be:
/opt/mscs/worlds/<world name>/console.out
This should tell you what the issue is. Feel free to post the contents of that file for help debugging the issue.

OK. Thanks! I'm in school right now, but I'll probably do that tonight or tomorrow night

I just ran a fresh install on Debian 13 where the default is JRE 21. However, Minecraft 26.1 would not run on that version of Java. I updated to JRE 25 and everything now works. I'm guessing you need to update your Java version too.

sudo apt install openjdk-25-jre
