PostHog v2 Alpha / Beta Epic #2531

@raquelmsmith

Description

@raquelmsmith

We're reimagining what the UI for PostHog should be. Three tenets:

  • Agents are the primary doers
  • Humans are around for directing, confirming, and sharing
  • We have no idea what people / agents will want, so we need to stay as flexible as possible as we learn

Internal Alpha

Who: Internal PostHog employees only. Get feedback from them about what to build next.

List of what we should have built for Alpha:

  • Sidebar channels
  • Channel creation via codebase scan (eg during wizard setup?)
  • Context docs for channels. Agents use the context docs to perform tasks.
  • Auto or human-assisted categorization
  • Fully AI-generated UIs & apps (powered by MCP / APIs) (we will componentize later)
  • Templates for Web analytics & marketing analytics (we'll see if people use these)
  • Task UI doesn't feel so code-specific - feels like you can create a canvas, kick off a coding task, do research etc all from one place
    • We might want separate boxes for these things in the future, if it's too hard for people to get on with a single box. But I think we should start simplest and get more complex from there, don't start with complex

Out of scope for private Alpha:

  • Rethinking task management - people can vibe this with the generative UI / apps as long as we have the data model - or make it a template for that
  • Inbox / Home
