Build Plan: QuickBets

Phased Build Plan

Phase 1: Initial Setup and User Authentication

  • Deliverables:
    • Set up a new Next.js project for the frontend.
    • Set up a Node.js + Express server for the backend.
    • Implement user authentication using email/password with JWT for session management.
    • Create basic user registration and login pages in React.
    • Create User model in Prisma and set up PostgreSQL database.
  • Definition of Done:
    • Users can register and log in.
    • JWT tokens are issued and validated for protected routes.
    • User data is stored in the database, and basic error handling is implemented.

Phase 2: Event and Bet Management

  • Deliverables:
    • Implement Event and Bet models in Prisma.
    • Create endpoints for creating and fetching events and placing bets.
    • Develop a basic UI for users to view available events and place bets.
    • Implement backend logic to handle bet placement, including balance checks.
  • Definition of Done:
    • Users can view a list of events and place bets.
    • Bets are stored in the database with status PENDING.
    • Basic validation and error handling are in place for bet placement.

Phase 3: Real-Time Event Tracking and Resolution

  • Deliverables:
    • Set up WebSockets for real-time updates on event status.
    • Implement backend logic for transitioning events from UPCOMING to LIVE to COMPLETED.
    • Develop a UI component to display real-time event updates.
    • Implement event resolution logic to update bet outcomes.
  • Definition of Done:
    • Events update in real-time on the user interface.
    • Bets are resolved automatically when events conclude.
    • Users receive immediate feedback on bet outcomes.

Phase 4: Social Media Integration

  • Deliverables:
    • Integrate with Twitter and Instagram APIs for sharing bets.
    • Implement UI components for users to share their bets on social media.
    • Develop backend endpoints to handle social media sharing requests.
  • Definition of Done:
    • Users can share bets on Twitter and Instagram directly from the platform.
    • Shared content is correctly formatted and includes relevant event details.
    • Error handling for failed social media interactions is implemented.

Phase 5: Instant Payouts and User Balance Management

  • Deliverables:
    • Implement logic for calculating and processing instant payouts.
    • Update user balance in the database upon bet resolution.
    • Develop UI components to display user balance and transaction history.
  • Definition of Done:
    • Users receive payouts within 5 minutes of event resolution.
    • User balances are accurately updated and displayed.
    • Users can view their transaction history.

Phase 6: User-Friendly Interface and Usability Enhancements

  • Deliverables:
    • Refine the UI for better user experience and accessibility.
    • Implement responsive design for mobile and desktop views.
    • Add tooltips and user guidance for new users.
  • Definition of Done:
    • The interface is intuitive and easy to navigate.
    • Users can place bets and interact with features without external guidance.
    • The platform is responsive and functions well on various devices.

Phase 7: Community Leaderboards and Final Touches

  • Deliverables:
    • Implement a leaderboard system to display top users based on winnings and participation.
    • Develop UI components for viewing and interacting with leaderboards.
    • Conduct final testing and bug fixes.
  • Definition of Done:
    • Leaderboards accurately display user rankings and statistics.
    • The platform is stable, with no critical bugs.
    • All MVP features are implemented and functional.
