Tk Console Command History Not Available When Activated With `:`

It seems the command history in the tk console does not work when the tk console is activated via : and arrow keys are used (up/down) to access previous/next commands (without manually clicking into the tk console window).

I'm not seeing that (works for me). I am using the plain arrow keys on a standard (standard 104 key layout) keyboard. Keypad arrows are encoded differently, and Num Lock will have an affect on the arrow key coding.

Hmm, I'm using https://github.com/iic-jku/IIC-OSIC-TOOLS which perhaps is throwing a wrench in things.

I've compiled magic on my native machine (Ubuntu 24.04) and still observe this behavior.

Also using a 104 key keyboard (I can't live without home/end keys in their proper position). Not using the keypad arrows, and this occurs regardless of Num Lock.

However, if I manually click on the tk console window, I am able to get command line history with the arrow keys. May I ask, does the tk console window become active / under focus when you press :? @RTimothyEdwards

That's a window manager behavior. I have my window manager set to an enter-to-focus policy, not a click-to-focus. That is probably part of the issue.

Hm, even if I set

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences focus-mode 'sloppy'

it still does not work properly.

It seems this should work regardless of window manager settings as well. I may look into a fix when I have some free time.
