The SPLASH Doctoral Symposium is a one-day event aimed at mid-stage doctoral students in programming languages or software engineering who have progressed far enough in their research to have a structured proposal but who will not be defending their dissertation in the next 12 months. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to present their research ideas to an international panel of senior computer science professors for critique and discussion.
9+
10+
Doctoral Symposium participants will also automatically be considered for SIGPLAN’s John Vlissides award, which comes with a cash prize of $2,000.
11+
12+
This year, SPLASH and ICFP will be co-located in Singapore, with the SPLASH Doctoral Symposium taking place in Singapore's famous Marina Bay Sands convention centre on Monday 13th October.

WebAssembly is a general-purpose low-level virtual machine, adopted by all major Web browsers and specified fully in terms of a pen-and-paper formal semantics. The WebAssembly Workshop (WAW) at ICFP / SPLASH 2025 aims to bring together researchers, standards body members, and industry practitioners, in order to continue and foster a growing trend of academic contributions to the WebAssembly ecosystem spanning verification, security, and programming language analysis and theory.
11+
12+
We enthusiastically request WebAssembly-related abstract submissions, including prior, ongoing, and early-stage work, for presentation and discussion at the workshop.

We are on the organizing committee of the Programming Languages Mentoring Workshop (PLMW) at SPLASH + ICFP 2025, in Singapore on Sunday October 12, 2025, and we are looking for students who are interested in programming languages and software engineering research to apply!
17+
18+
The workshop is aimed at late-stage undergraduates interested in graduate school, as well as early-career Masters/PhD students. We would like to ask you to reach out to students who may be interested in programming languages, as well as software engineering, and
19+
encourage them to apply.
20+
21+
A key mission of this workshop is to increase the participation in programming languages and software engineering research by students who apply to (and, crucially, remain in) PhD programs. Attending conferences is often a transformative experience for students and can go a long way to make them feel part of the research community. Coupled with the mentorship that PLMW provides, we hope to build excitement about research and nurture a welcoming environment.
22+
23+
We’ve attached a flyer that explains what programming languages research is and why students might want to apply to PLMW. They can find more information and insights from previous participants at the workshop website:
24+
https://conf.researchr.org/home/icfp-splash-2025/PLMW-ICFP-SPLASH-2025
25+
26+
Students who are interested in attending the workshop and would like to request funding to do so must fill out a short application by the deadline of July 15, 2025.
27+
28+
PLMW highly encourages applicants from first time conference attendees. We are always happy to answer questions from you and from students!
29+
30+
Thanks in advance,
31+
