Context Menu also Linux Compatible?

Hello,

I found this page:

I did this:
Bind context menu in your input.conf
Example: MBTN_RIGHT script-binding select/context-menu

By default, right click pauses my media. After adding this, the right click input simply does nothing. It doesn't pause anymore, but the context menu also doesn't appear. Yes, I have the latest mpv verison v0.41.0.

Is there everything else I need to do? Is there a context-menu.lua file I need to download?

Context menu is integrated into mpv. If nothing is happening, that means you're using an oudated (old) mpv. Some distros take a long time to update packages (ie: Debian)

This is my version. Do you also have 0.41?

That is 6 months old, before context menu was integrated. The version you're using was released in December 2025.

Okay. Very irritating because 0.41 literally is the latest version in the official GitHub Releases. Thanks for the help, I try to update manaually! :)

Indeed, it is the latest stable release.

You can either update it yourself to match master or wait for the next stable release, which should be very soon. They're finishing up the last touches, so it should be within a month or two.

I honestly agree, I still can't believe it's easier for Windows to have an up-to-date mpv than on Linux. But no one is to blame, as someone needs to volunteer to offer updated packages (ie: flatpak), and so far none.

Well, there are updated packages listed in mpv's installation page, just not flatpaks.
