Hey everyone,

ButlerSDK was initially open-sourced back on February 23rd, and I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has checked it out. We crossed 3,180 downloads across the 23 packages under the ButlerSDK NuGet namespace! A lot has been happening behind the scenes, and I wanted to officially post a state-of-the-project update.

Last month (March 9th), I pushed v1.1.0-preview. You can read the full release notes in the repository, but the primary focus of that patch was establishing Capability-Based Security (Zero-Trust Tooling), fully decoupling the memory engine, and fixing some critical state-loss issues with the Gemini API that stopped tool calls from working.

Now, as we look toward locking in a stable v1.0, I want to be completely transparent about current limitations, and where the project is heading next.

⚠️ Current Limitations

• Text Only: Version 1.x currently supports text only (no images, vision, or audio). This is intentional. My primary focus has been ensuring the core state machine, remedial loops, and security routing are robust before introducing the complexity of multimodal data parsing.

🗺️ Future Roadmap

(Standard disclaimer: This is an exploratory roadmap in no particular order. Features are subject to change and there are no hard promises on delivery dates!)

• Azure Key Vault: Enterprise-grade cloud secret management for API keys and database credentials.
• Azure Blobs: Cloud storage integration, allowing tools to natively read/write to Azure Blob Storage.
• Microsoft Kernel Memory (RAG): I am currently looking into building a native ButlerSDK tool to integrate Microsoft's kernel-memory (or a tailored fork of it). This would allow developers to easily snap a highly advanced RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipeline directly into ButlerSDK's execution loop.
