Channel Icons

Many of the channel icons in the list are dead links and/or are outdated.

Some of Ash's can be found via web archive, but may no longer be worth it.
Freeview site has them listed in the JSON

• Foxtel

Perhaps look at a list format change, or a source format which is then thrown into the tab-separated-format via script.

It would be interesting to know more about the freeview json list.
I found it should be possible to get a good set of icons using the urls for the channel icons at the bottom of the front page, but not sure that's a viable path. Maybe a 'freeview' theme is an option, to give credit?

Another feature I thought of - standardise the naming of the downloaded icons.
Possibly needs another field in logo_list.txt, but a computed name theme-channel.imgtype;
replace any spaces or slashes in the file's channel name with _.

A bit of digging around reveals this is likely not a straightforward thing to do. Constructing the name we want to save to is fine; the issue is getting the name to be used, given how the downloads occur.
The icons seem to be downloaded by the XMLTV icon handler which only understands 'src', 'height' and 'width'. To implement this idea, one would have to download each icon into a cache and feed a file:// uri into the 'src' field, which has all sorts of fragility issues.

It is potentially an option, but a risky one legally, as the logos are copyrighted and usually trade marks
