After having fiddled around with the download functions from the old Rstox, it appears that they do not use too much Java. Could they be modified and moved to RstoxData? There is quite a substantial amount of work behind them and they work well. No point inventing the wheel again.

The functions for downloading from NMD will indeed be moved from Rstox, but are considered too specific to be moved to RstoxData. Rather, a new package RstoxNMD will host these functions. This work is progressing, but there is some work left to separate the functions completely from the old Java library (creating StoX project to place the files in).
