The annotation of metiers that is based on selections of metier-components being annotated to the datasets could be much simplified if we define a function that accepts a list of valid metiers, parses these and automatically assign. The existing cumbersome way is necessary in special cases (if original gear codes are needed, or if special target-definitions apply), so this should be provided as a new function.
Metier annotations must work at different levels of granularity for:
- landings (NS 9400 gear codes)
- logbook-ammended landings (FAO gear codes + gear configuration feilds)
- sample data (based in NMDequipment)
Need to solve definition of target species for fishing operations. For trips I think it is established that dominant catch is OK. Consult the RCG working groups (find link).
