Think of it like this.
instead of making blocks that aren't in 1.12 look like blocks similar to them. instead make them look like blocks you will probably never see ingame (if your a pvp addict like me) like instead of making a respawn anchor look like obsidian make it look like a structure void block, then create a texture pack and copy paste the respawn anchor texture onto the structure void texture. but you may have to use these unknown blocks multiple times bcuz there's not alot of them so just make every block thats not in 1.12 look like an unknown blocks.
