I neither use cmp or blink, so I have no clue. From my understanding blink is some kind of wrapper around cmp, so it should work similar/in the same way?

It isn't a wrapper. Tabout seems to work well with blink using the 'super-tab' preset, as blink.cmp has a similar fallback for bindings
