Hello! My name is Bennet Meyers. I'm a Staff Scientist with [SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory](https://www6.slac.stanford.edu/), having completed my PhD in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University in 2023, advised by [Stephen Boyd](http://web.stanford.edu/~boyd/). We recently wrote a [book](https://web.stanford.edu/~boyd/papers/sig_decomp_mprox.html) on signal decomposition ([publisher's page](https://www.nowpublishers.com/article/Details/SIG-122)). On December 8, 2022, I successfully [defended my dissertation]({{ "/ThesisDefense/" | absolute_url}}).

Hello! My name is Bennet Meyers. I'm a Senior Researcher with the [National Renewable Energy Lab](https://www.nrel.gov) and an Adjunct Professor in [Electrical Engineering](https://ee.stanford.edu) at [Stanford University](https://www.stanford.edu). My research is focused on mathematical optimization for signal processing, estimation, and control with applications in energy. I am particularly interested in the large-scale management and grid integration of renewable power generation. I am also interested in auditable, computationally efficient algorithms and the development of so-called "white-box" machine learning approaches.

Since 2018, I have been running the [PVInsight](https://bmeyers.github.io/PVInsight/) project for [SETO](https://www.energy.gov/eere/solar/solar-energy-technologies-office), developing tools to solve digital operations and maintence problems in the solar PV industy. Some of these tools can be found [here](https://github.com/slacgismo/solar-data-tools).
