How well is latest version 5.9.0 or its predecessor 5.8.0 supposed to be able to use multiple cores....?
I am now compressing my audio collection. Some things to FLAC and others to WAVPACK (mainly DAW projects which have 32bit float WAVs).
I have i5-12400 CPU and win11.
With FLAC (--threads=12) I see all CPU threads maxing very fast. With wavpack, either no threads parameter or same --threads=12 there seems to be barely any multi core utilization.
I am not sure if it is my computer or is the algorithm just not yet working efficiently in multiple threads...?
