The `{source}` is the source of the note (usually the initials of a speaker, or a bibliographic reference), and is optional but strongly recommended. The `{language}` is also optional. If absent, parsers should assume that the language is English (`en`). The language must be a valid [ISO language tag][language-tag], and must be surrounded by parentheses. The source and the language must be separated by one or more spaces or tabs. The colon `(:)` may be followed by one or more spaces or tabs. The colon may be omitted if both the source and language are absent. Some examples of notes are below:
