redis.log does not log

From the issues I learnt that the redis.log implementation is currently just a no-op.
That is somewhat confusing, I thought I misconfigured something when I tried to use it and saw no logs in the server log.
While getting the point that there is a potential of security issues, I think this is neglectable if loglevel via server flags is configured correctly.
For scripts that are executed in multiple threads in parallel, the integrated ldb debugger is imho not enough.

So my question is, will we see an implementation of redis.log anytime soon, if at all?
