On one hand we want to be supportive of small app developers by offering something without restriction to make money, but I don't think people want to work on a project if it turns into the basis of a 1000+ new trivia skinned apps.

That's a problem, I agree. The thing is, facts are "free", but the work to aggregate them isn't... What kind of license can we use then ?
