Work Log - YouTube Automation Project

This log tracks the work done on the YouTube automation project.

Project Overview

The goal of this project is to create a low-cost YouTube automation system for "Dark" (faceless) channels. The system is built upon n8n, a workflow automation tool, and leverages Docker for a containerized environment. The architecture is designed to minimize costs by using self-hosted tools like FFmpeg and open-source libraries like edge-tts for text-to-speech, while integrating with powerful APIs like Google Gemini for tasks like audio transcription.

Current Status

The project has a basic structure with the following components:

  • base/base.md: A document detailing the advanced architecture for YouTube automation, focusing on low-cost infrastructure and data engineering.
  • output/: This directory contains the output of the project, including:
    • docker-compose.yml and Dockerfile: For setting up the n8n environment with necessary dependencies (FFmpeg, Python, edge-tts).
    • n8n-data/: Persistent data for n8n, including workflows.
    • nginx/: Configuration for a Nginx proxy.
    • MVP_Workflow.json: An n8n workflow that defines a simple three-step process:
      1. Definir Roteiro: Set the script for the video.
      2. Gerar Áudio (TTS): Generate audio from the script using edge-tts.
      3. Gerar Vídeo (FFmpeg): Create a video from the generated audio.

User Request

The user has requested to "implement the logic of the nodes" and to create a work log to re-establish the agent's memory for future sessions.

My understanding of "implement the logic of the nodes" is to continue building and improving the n8n workflow, and potentially executing the commands to ensure they work as expected.

Work Done

  • Dynamic Script Reading: The workflow has been updated to read the video script from an external file (base/roteiro.txt). This was achieved by:
    • Adding a readFile node to the workflow.
    • Modifying the docker-compose.yml to mount the base directory into the n8n container.
  • Audio File Verification: A fileExists node was added to the workflow to ensure the audio file is created successfully before proceeding to the next step.
  • Dynamic Background Generation: The video generation process has been enhanced. Instead of a solid color, the workflow now:
    • Generates a background image using a new executeCommand node with FFmpeg.
    • Uses this image as the background for the final video.

Next Steps

  • The next logical step is to add a node to upload the generated video to YouTube. This will involve:
    • Adding a placeholder "YouTube" node to the workflow.
    • Providing instructions on how to configure the node with the necessary API credentials and video metadata.
  • Await for more specific instructions from the user on how to proceed with the implementation.
