Status of the perseus project.

It's been a little while I came online, I have had few issues. I have been able to fix them.

How is the state of the perseus project? In 2025 most depending crates have been upgraded, what needs changing / improving ?

Hey! Perseus is very much in stasis right now, I'm working primarily on other things these days. I want to do an update that goes through as much as possible and moves things into a more working state so you can download the CLI and play with it without running into issues with Rust versions etc., but from there I expect there will be very little further work.

I've seen you've done tremendous work in the documentation. It's much simpler and clearer to absorb. Kudos!
I have been thinking, about porting the sycamore dependency to 0.9, what do you think about it? What needs updating?
How can I contribute?

You're very welcome to update Sycamore, that would be great! The big things first are fixing the cargo_lock dependency issues, making sure file watching is still functioning (I've had some issues), and then that should fix CI, but if not then that'll need some more investigation. After that, should be ready for a Sycamore v0.9 migration.

I've cloned and fixed the cargo_lock issue, I will be committing it shortly, This leads to a next question: should all the grates be upgraded or only the buggy ones? I believe this will require running few test as there would be breaking changes as well.
What issue were you having with "file watching"? Still inspecting here as well and will be pushing some of the commits shortly.

Where we can upgrade to a new version without introducing breaking changes to our own API, that should absolutely happen, and then we can push a new minor version. Then larger updates that will cause breaking changes can be bundled with the upgrade to Sycamore v0.9. How does that sound to you?

As for file watching, I remember having an issue where sometimes Perseus would stop reloading altogether. If you're not experiencing that, don't worry about it (my suspicion is that, once you go over the watcher limit, Perseus fails silently, when it should report to the user that they've hit their watching quota and should raise it).

I'm already reading through the code in order to upgrade the dependencies and if possible move to Sycamore 0.9, is it possible we can have a discussion if possible on Discord?
