A native of Casablanca, Morocco, I hold a PhD in Applied Sciences (2017) from the University of Liège, Belgium. I received a M.S in Mechanical Engineering (2012) from the Institut Gramme and a M.S. in Management Sciences (2015) from HEC Liège, both in Belgium. I have previously been a Visiting Research Fellow at Ecole Polytechnique de Montréal, Canada. I have been awarded a PBEEE excellence scholarship (2017) as well as a Wallonia Brussels International (WBI) World Excellence Fellowship (2020). In May 2021, I got the Professor Piet Rietweld Award for the best doctoral dissertation in transportation research from BIVEC/GIBET. My work appeared in major transportation-related academic journals, including Transportation Research Part B: Methodological, Transportation Research Part C: Emerging Technologies, Journal of Transport Geography, Transport Policy, Expert Systems with Applications, etc.

In our research group, we're looking at how people change their travel habits when new urban models (15-mins city, LTN, car-free city, superblock model, cycling infrastructure) are implemented. We're interested in how people interact with their physical environment to model personal exposures (air quality, noise, physical activity, access to green and blue spaces, traffic accidents/injuries, and heat exposure). All of these factors together influence population health, including illness and even death.

My research focuses on understanding these changes through computer models that simulate how people and transportation systems interact. I model how people make their travel choices, like using a car or active modes of transport (walking/cycling). Right now, I'm actively involved in two research projects, JIBE and GLASST, which are helping us achieve our research goals.
