Hello. My mute stopped working with AdvancedBan, and it was working fine until recently, but after a few updates to the current chat version, it stopped working.

When a muted player writes in the chat, their message is displayed as it should be, and a message is also displayed indicating that they are muted by Advancedban.

I would like to know if you have changed anything that could have caused this problem. I would not like to change the ban manager.

Hey, this is a known conflict with AdvancedBan on modern Paper/Purpur.

AdvancedBan cancels the old AsyncPlayerChatEvent, but since you're on Purpur (Paper-based), ChatControl defaults to Chat_Listener_Priority: HIGH-MODERN which listens on the newer AsyncChatEvent — a completely separate event. AdvancedBan's cancellation doesn't reach it.

Change Chat_Listener_Priority in your settings.yml from HIGH-MODERN to HIGH (remove the -MODERN suffix). This makes ChatControl use the same legacy chat event that AdvancedBan cancels, so the mute will be respected.

If that doesn't work, try HIGHEST or LOWEST — different priorities can affect whether ChatControl runs before or after AdvancedBan. But removing -MODERN should do the trick.

But I already have Chat_Listener_Priority: HIGH without -MODERN and the chat doesn't get muted like before.

Sorry about the incorrect advice earlier — changing the priority won't help here.

The real issue is that AdvancedBan cancels the chat event at HIGHEST priority, but ChatControl (when using channels) sends messages through its own channel system before AdvancedBan gets a chance to cancel. No priority change can fix this because AdvancedBan is already at the highest usable priority.

On top of that, AdvancedBan wasn't in our list of supported mute plugins (we only checked Essentials, CMI, BanManager, and LiteBans).

I've added native AdvancedBan mute support — ChatControl will now directly check AdvancedBan's mute status before processing the message, so muted players will be blocked regardless of event priority. This will be in the next build.
