thanks for using this tool .umm well. simply put, this tool is in devlopment. its going to change how we used vpns before... just... i need time.. i have been working on other projects and havent had time for this. the update to fix issues will come out shortly

Hey @xkajxkajx — thanks for the detailed report! I just pushed a batch of fixes that should help with all 4 engines:

What was wrong & what's fixed:

WARP (not working → now fixed)

• Problem: Only tried native DLL — if blackout_warp.dll wasn't compiled, it instantly failed
• Fix: Added binary fallback — now tries native DLL first, then auto-downloads and runs warp-plus.exe if available
• Try: blackout bins download warp-plus then blackout connect --engine warp

Psiphon (not working → now fixed)

• Problem: Same DLL dependency, no way to get the standalone binary
• Fix: Added psiphon-tunnel-core-x86_64.exe to the auto-downloader
• Try: blackout bins download psiphon then blackout connect --engine psiphon

GoodbyeDPI (not working → now fixed)

• Problem: 3 issues in one: missing WinDivert DLL, no admin rights check, confusing crash message
• Fix: Added early checks for: WinDivert presence + Administrator privileges + clear error messages
• Try: Run as Administrator, then blackout bins download goodbyedpi and blackout connect --engine gdpi

WireGuard (not working → better messaging)

• Problem: Requires compiled blackout_core.dll — no workaround without Go toolchain
• Fix: Added build instructions in the error message
• Note: This one needs Go 1.22+ to compile the engine — will add pre-built releases soon

Also fixed

• Merged Dependabot security update (Go net lib v0.33 → v0.55)
• Doctor now shows useful hints instead of 'please compile the engine'

Short version: Run these 3 commands and everything should work:
blackout bins download
blackout doctor
blackout connect

Update: I just pushed another round of fixes based on a deep codebase audit. These address potential failure scenarios that could silently break the connection:

🔥 Fixed: Kill switch was broken

The old kill switch used \localport=10808,10809\ to allow proxy traffic. But proxy outbound connections use random source ports, not the listen ports — so the kill switch blocked everything, including the proxy itself, leaving users with no internet at all.

• Fix: Rewrote with per-process firewall rules (PowerShell). The proxy executable is allowed by file path, so its outbound connections always work.
• Also added DNS/DHCP allow rules so the machine can still resolve names and renew IP.
• Added \�lackout killswitch test\ to verify it works.

🧟 Fixed: Silent DLL crash detection

If the native DLL (xray, sni, psiphon, warp) crashed silently (segfault, deadlock), the daemon thought the engine was still running and never restarted it.

• Fix: \is_running()\ now probes the engine's TCP port for DLL-based engines. If the port is closed, the engine is marked dead and restarted.

🛡️ Fixed: Watchdog now cleans up kill switch on crash

If you End Task the daemon while kill switch is on, your internet was permanently blocked.

• Fix: Watchdog now calls \disable_kill_switch()\ when the daemon dies.

✅ Fixed: Download integrity checks

Downloaded binaries are now verified to have valid PE headers (MZ + PE signature). Corrupted or tampered downloads are rejected before install.

🧹 Fixed: --iran\ flag settings no longer persist

Running \�lackout connect --iran\ previously changed settings permanently. Now original values are restored on disconnect.

Run \�lackout bins download\ to refresh your binaries with integrity-verified copies.
