Sorry, it is unusable. The team has stoped to respect basic GUI design principles. I'd rather cut videos on the console with ffmpeg instead of trying to figure out what this cumbersome GUI wants me to do in order to just cut a 10 second clip from a 60 second video.
If you don't believe me: load a 60 second clip and try to extract 10 second of it. Borderline impossible.

could you be more specific on why exactly the GUI feels cumbersome to you? It's not clear to me what exactly the issue seems to be.
At least for me, LosslessCut has always been very straightforward and easy to use. Also, did you check out the 'How to use' documentation?

If you don't believe me: load a 60 second clip and try to extract 10 second of it. Borderline impossible.

There are many different workflows you can use to achieve this. What I usually do is this:

1. Load the clip.
2. Go to the start point of the 10 seconds you want to keep. The 'seek to timecode' shortcut allows you to directly jump to a precise point (down to the milliseconds/frames), or you can use your mouse and then keyboard shortcuts for precision.
3. Cut using the 'split segment at cursor' shortcut.
4. Jump/seek 10 seconds forward. On default settings you can just use the 'Ctrl+Shift+Right Arrow' shortcut for that (or whatever it is for the OS you are on), for instance.
5. Cut again.
6. If I only want to keep that 10 second segment, I deactivate the other segments (e.g. by using the 'select only this segment' shortcut) and then I export. That's all.

Again, this is just one way of doing it. I think that's not cumbersome, let alone "borderline impossible".

Well, what exactly would you like the timeline to do when clicking it? You can already left-click the timeline to jump to different positions and activate the respective segment. Right-click allows you to open the 'seek to timecode' option. You can also use your mouse wheel to seek backward/forward (using additional modifier keys allow for more precision).
Or maybe the options you are looking for are what you get when right-clicking a segment in the sidebar? I guess those options could be added to the timeline's right-click context menu, or at least make it customizable to make it more useful. Maybe even a quick 'export this segment' entry.

Anyway. I think calling someone else's work flat out 'garbage' is disrespectful and not constructive at all, especially when it's not been made clear what exactly the problem is.

The "team" is just me. I try my best to make the app as easy to use as possible yet please people's needs, but I can't always get it right.

Then maybe you should just do that instead of spewing bile here.

As for the issue in question. It could be that the video you're trying to cut doesn't have enough keyframes. in that case it's not really possible to cut. See also main documentation and FAQ about this. It could also be a possible regression #2780 if it works in the previous version with the same file.

You are right in that I shouldn't have been so overly negative, but that doesn't mean the criticism isn't valid. It was a rather simple objective, and it's extremely frustrating with lossless-cut.

It was 60 seconds down to 10 seconds, I am pretty sure there were some keyframes available, and lossless tools would usually just snap to available keyframes to make it clear that you can either cut this way, or that way, but not in-between, since any cut can only start at an I-frame. That's nothing new.

I literally used WhatsApp to cut it, since that was far easier.

"pretty sure" doesn't cut it in software. either there are keyframes or there are none. Judging by your screenshot i'd say there are none, and you haven't given me any proof that there are.

And there are some files that do allow cutting between keyframes, depending on "cut mode". There are also files that need to be cut a few frames before the keyframe, and some a few frames after the keyframes. So I cannot just always snap to keyframes. Related #516

That being said, there might be a regression with keyframe detection in the latest version of LosslessCut: #2780
OR it's just everyone using OBS studio footage in losslesscut and OBS studio has changed something when it comes to keyframe interval recently.

You can interact with the timeline with keyboard and mouse. you can even drag/move and resize segments but you have to hold down a modifier key. maybe this needs to be made more clear.

It has taken me more than 20 minutes to get to the point where I have created "a segment".
I assumed I had on a previous attempt, but once exported, all I had was a copy of the entire video. What I had actually done was create two "Markers" 10 minutes apart, but that didn't do what I expected when I exported.
I was on the verge of giving up then realised I can input the end time of this marker thing to create segment!
Amusingly enough, it clobbered the original output file without prompting on creating the usable one.
But I got there in the end.

Using software shouldn't be that hard, especially since the objective here is actually quite simple. You're basically just extracting or eliminating video frames (depending on how you look at it) from an existing file - in this case without incuring any quality loss due to re-encoding.

This is good feedback and I will definitely improve this. Markers were implemented recently, that's why it has probably caused some confusion. Maybe I will instead give a warning if trying to export only markers.

In the next version, when creating a new segment, a segment will be created instead of a marker, but only in simple mode (which is the default when starting the app the first time)
