speed_up_illustration.ipynb notebook plots all the intermediate plots

@Sonja-Stockhaus @timtreis I have tried running the speed_up_illustration.ipynb notebook and I have noticed that the all the plots that are made to compute the benchmark are shown. I believe in a previous versions they were hidden. See screenshot.

hmm, that's not intended. If I remember correctly, that was why I use %%capture. And when I run it locally, the plots are not shown as we want it to be
