Current Behavior

I'm unable to send any videos!
I keep getting the pop-up of saying they have to be less than 10 MB.

So I split the video in to several pieces of only 8 MB, but I kept getting the same message.

Important

Why is the limit only 10 MB?
That is a ridiculous size constraint with today's megapixel cams, where only 5 seconds are already 8 MB!

Expected Behavior

You can upload any normal size camera video of at least 100 MB.

Steps To Reproduce

Make a video with your camera and try to send it.

Could you please try v1.33.0 where we've made changes to the video images. It's possible larger videos were picked.
We do not have custom logic regarding the size beyond a simple check.

Same issue on latest. Can't send any video/image because of 10 MB complaint.
Perhaps also the receiver didn't update app? IDK.

Please test on your own with same and different app versions.

The 10mb is a real constraint from the network, so that part is normal. Are you able to send videos that are actually less than 10mb?

Ok, why is that constraint there?

That is a ridiculously low constraint, and you're then better off saying you don't support videos at all, rather than fooling users into thinking they can share videos!

It makes no sense. Maybe I understood Session wrong?
I was under the impression it was p2p network, so there shouldn't be any constraints?

No. I split the video with video splitter and each piece was ~8MB, still no go.

I'm not sure why the 8mb video are not working. We have tested this and are not getting any issues with files smaller than 10mb.

As for the 10mb: Its a technical limit of onion requests with how we need to send files.
This is why we are working on the Session Router, which fixes this by allowing p2p file streaming.

Cool. What's the progress status of that? ETA?

There is no ETA yet as it's a very large change.
iOS has integrated an early stage of the Session Router which will require testing and fine tuning.
But it is also part of what Session wants to provide as part of the Pro update. It won't be part of the beta but as a future update in case progress move forward as planned.
