Please tell us about yourself (include an email address):
Name: Awwal Malik Olamilekan (MK Tech)
Email: awwalmalik4@gmail.com
I am a full-stack software developer from Nigeria specializing in Flutter, Laravel, and web application development. I am currently developing a cross-platform Islamic application for Android, iOS, and the web that aims to provide Muslims with reliable Islamic resources in an easy-to-use, offline-first experience.
Your purpose in using this API:
I am developing a comprehensive Islamic companion application built with Flutter for Android, iOS, and Web. The application will provide users with authentic Islamic resources, including the Quran, Hadith, prayer times, duas, Islamic learning materials, and other educational features.
The Sunnah.com API will be used to retrieve authentic hadith collections for browsing, searching, and reading within the application. Where permitted, the application will cache data locally to improve performance and allow offline access while ensuring users receive accurate and up-to-date content.
The application is intended for educational and religious purposes only and will not modify or misrepresent the hadith content.
API rate limits:
Maximum requests per second: 2 requests/second
Maximum requests per day: 5,000 requests/day
Since most data will be cached locally, API usage will primarily be for synchronization, updates, and search requests, resulting in relatively low traffic.
Is your use case better served by having an offline dump of hadith data or programmatic API access?
An offline data dump would be preferred if available under your licensing terms. Our application is designed with an offline-first architecture so users can continue reading hadith without an internet connection. We would also appreciate periodic updates or synchronization capabilities to keep the offline database current.
What are the languages in which would you like hadith data?
Arabic
English
Future support may include additional languages such as French, Hausa, and Yoruba if available.
What programming language will your API client be in?
The client application is being developed in Flutter (Dart) for Android, iOS, and Web.
The backend services are built with Laravel (PHP), which will securely communicate with the API, manage caching, and synchronize data when necessary.
