A lot of the code in this repo was only being exercised during downstream tests of components in the web client before this code was migrated to its own repo. So test coverage is pretty minimal now that it's been split off. This issue is a reminder to create proper unit tests for the shared code in this repo now that multiple different clients will be depending on it.
