Thank you for the comment! I'm glad you find it interesting.

Before starting bootc-man, I researched both macadam and bcvk. However, since I wanted bootc-man to work on non-Linux OSes (especially macOS), I decided not to adopt either at the time:

• macadam: Requires cloud-init, which was a concern
• bcvk: Does not support macOS (currently)
• Instead, bootc-man currently uses the same proven technologies as Podman Machine (vfkit, gvproxy).

That said, bootc-man's VM approach is philosophically aligned with bcvk. If bcvk adds non-Linux platform support in the future, integration would definitely be feasible.

Yes but IMO the bcvk ephemeral model is so useful as a core primitive. We're using it increasingly in our CI. Nothing stops this project from wrapping bcvk ephemeral as a clear tool least on Linux right? And for that matter bcvk to-disk and there's more coming.

If we can make bcvk work on other platforms (and yes, hard) it would be IMO an across the board win. I don't daily-drive MacOS really (though I do have one).
