Inactive owned workspaces need exact local recovery before their working directories can be retired. This adds Unix
archive capture, restore, verify, andverify-remaindercommands backed by a private compressed, deduplicated archive store. Restore validates the manifest hierarchy, restores into private staging, verifies supported content and metadata, and synchronizes files and directories before publication. Existing destinations and unsupported state are refused. The archive database is local and separate from relay objects; existing chunking and relay formats remain unchanged. Callers must fence writers: capture does not stop watchers or certify quiescence. Windows archive support is unavailable.
Validation: all 13 archive CLI tests and the existing shared-store regressions pass on Linux and macOS. The macOS run exercises native ACL/flag refusal, links, attributes, modes, exact reopen, and registered-workspace identity/timeline preservation. Platform CI. The four new safety regressions failed before their fixes. Actual power-loss recovery remains unverified; the Linux syscall-ordering regression checks synchronization ordering.
Dependency for codeaf #1944. After review, release artifacts and codeaf’s pinned version/checksums must be updated; a custom development binary does not establish ordinary installation support. Draft while downstream acceptance and required checks remain outstanding.
