Impactful Engineer (Builder/Composing/Creator)
Hey! I'm Adriel Orlando Johan, a 2nd-year Electronic Engineering student at HKUST who always wants to build something meaningful. Initially drawn to CS by gaming, I discovered my true passion in EE through HKUST clubs—mastering KiCAD for PCB design, Fusion360 for 3D modeling, and diving into app development (Kotlin/Flutter frontend + FastAPI/Python backend APIs). From prototyping EV power systems to crafting secure mobile features for 200+ users at Kalbe Nutritionals, I thrive on engineering R&D, entrepreneurial problem-solving, and even music production in FL Studio.
✨ Key Experience & Skills:
- Mobile App Development: Kalbe Nutritionals Mobile Developer Intern (Indonesia) – Developed Android features using Kotlin/Flutter/API/Retrofit; implemented RoomDB for 2,000+ monthly CRUD operations serving 200+ daily users.
- Full-Stack Backend: Built FastAPI endpoints with PostgreSQL database for data processing and automation.
- Rapid Learning: Mastered Flutter framework in 5 days.
- PCB Design & EV Systems: Redbird Formula Racing Electrical Trainee—designed KiCad schematics/layouts for EV power/control systems; hands-on prototyping, soldering, and telemetry analysis.
- Firmware/Embedded: Built CBR600RR dashboard interfacing custom PCB with sensors (speed, RPM, telemetry data acquisition).
Growing up gaming fueled my tech dreams, I taught myself Godot to build indie games, loving how code brought virtual worlds to life. However, as I prototyped deeper, I craved real-world impact beyond screens, pivoting to software development with FastAPI/Python APIs and Kotlin/Flutter mobile apps during my Kalbe internship. Then, HKUST clubs revealed Electronic Engineering as my true calling: KiCAD PCB design, Fusion360 3D modeling, and blending hardware-software-mechanical for EV systems at Redbird Racing showed me the power of tangible creation. Now I build cross-domain solutions—apps that control circuits, prototypes that solve problems—always chasing that thrill of shipping something physical and digital. EE wasn't Plan B; it's where software ambition meets engineering reality. Let's build the future! 🚀
