Posters load eagerly on the homepage while the videos stay deferred, so they dominated page weight at 864KB. Re-encoding at webp q78 halves that with no visible quality change.
Search databases and AI summaries conflate the brand with rocketry and telecom SIM products; nothing on the page said otherwise.

Closing this one: the "rocket simulator" queries this targets are documented noise in our search data. They come from people looking for model-rocket and flight-sim games who will never install a Mac developer tool, so there is no conversion upside, and the negative phrasing costs clarity in our highest-value hero copy. The hero's first sentence already disambiguates for real prospects ("inspect, test, and debug your app in the Simulator"). |

Merge order 4 of 5 — shows #1105's commits until that merges — the diff on top is one homepage sentence plus its test. I will rebase after each merge.
Problem. Nothing on the homepage says what category RocketSim is in.
Searches and third-party databases conflate it with model-rocket simulators and
telecom "Rocket SIM" products.
Why it matters. Wrong-intent visitors cost crawl attention and dilute the
brand's meaning to both Google and AI assistants. Brand queries are also
falling — "rocket sim" volume is down 56% month-over-month — so the traffic
that remains needs to be the right audience.
What changed. One sentence added to the homepage hero subtitle (slot
content in
index.astro), reusing the current element and classes. No newstyling, no shared-component change.
KPI — starting point. Site-wide, 90 days: "rocket sim" 3,361 impressions /
785 clicks; "rocketsim" 4,303 impressions / 2,161 clicks. Homepage 4,301
clicks / 43,081 impressions / 9.98% CTR / position 6.79. AI category probes
name Charles, Proxyman, and Snagit — never RocketSim — unless the brand is
already in the question. (Search Console 90 days to 24 Jul 2026, site-wide
query totals from
queries-90d.json; AI probes 23 Jul 2026.)KPI — expectation. Homepage CTR holds or improves while wrong-intent
impressions fall. Directionally, this supports AI answers naming RocketSim for
"Xcode Simulator companion" questions — re-probe quarterly rather than expecting
a fast move.
How to measure it. Search Console → Pages → homepage, 28 days before vs
after, watching CTR and position. Re-run the four AI category probes at the
next quarterly check.
Risk / rollback. Pure copy addition. If it reads badly or pushes the
download buttons below the fold on mobile, revert the single commit.
