feat: create a source-grounded operational reference for an unfamiliar tool #149

Open

Description

@CruxExperts

Summary

Please offer an optional workflow that turns a reviewed version of a tool's source into a useful written operational reference.

Problem or workflow

People evaluating an unfamiliar self-hosted tool may find that its documentation omits important operations, settings, limitations, or recovery behavior. A broad summary does not show which parts were examined or where understanding is incomplete.

Affected area

Tool evaluation, source review, and documentation authoring.

Proposed behavior

Help users choose a source version and review scope, then produce a readable reference explaining the tool's operations, important settings, expected results, and relevant failure and recovery behavior. Show which areas were reviewed and identify omissions or unresolved questions. Ground explanations in the reviewed source, distinguish observed behavior from assumptions, and retain enough context to revisit the reference when the tool changes.

For example, someone considering a self-hosted service should be able to understand how its important operations behave and which areas still need investigation before adoption.

The requested result is explanatory documentation. The maintainer can decide how best to fit this into the existing documentation workflows.
