Desktop

Windows 10/11, Linux (GNOME/KDE/Cinnamon), and macOS (Intel/Apple Silicon) share the same codebase. AdaptiveHomeScreen picks a three-pane desktop shell on wide desktop windows and falls back to the mobile layout below 860 px.

Every CI-green push to main publishes a GitHub release with the signed APK, a Windows x64 installer, a macOS DMG and a Linux x86_64 AppImage (.github/workflows/github-apk-release.yml). Windows and macOS builds are not code-signed. .github/workflows/desktop-build.yml builds portable CI artifacts for branches and pull requests. Native builds compile a small C library through Dart build hooks, so a C toolchain (clang, MSVC or Xcode) is required. Desktop limitations — no post-exit background fetch, no home widgets/tray, no embedded WebView on Windows/Linux — are documented in desktop compatibility.

Five ChangeNotifier providers power UI state. FeedProvider receives subscription, settings, and bookmark state through ChangeNotifierProxyProvider3. Hive CE uses settings, feeds, and bookmarks boxes.

Durable article records and a shared media pool support offline preparation independently of disposable image caches. Multi-writer storage publishes through a lifecycle gate (native file lock, in-memory on web); factory reset is journaled and resumes on next start. See architecture and offline storage. Native platform behavior requires platform-specific verification; dated findings are indexed under audits and research.
