ES DOC

Mission

The Earth-System Documentation (ES-DOC) aims to nurture a standards based documentation eco-system in support of Earth System Model and Observation documentation.

History

The IPSL was active in the EU Metafor project which defined a common information standard (CIM) for describing Earth System Models and their Simulations. The Metafor project also delivered an online questionnaire for collecting CMIP5 Model & Simulation documentation. Once the Metafor project came to the end of it's funding cycle, with strong IPSL support, the ES-DOC project came into being.

Tools

The ES-DOC project provides online and scripting tools in support of documentation creation, search, viewing, and comparison. ES-DOC also provides an integration from the ESG-F portal so that users can access documentation from data searches.
