Puertorican 🇵🇷 PhD in Plant Pathology.
My PhD research focused on a collection of biocontrol Pseudomonas used to manage Pythium-induced diseases in hydroponically grown leafy greens. I also performed extensive genomic analyses of these isolates, including:
- Genome mining
- Phylogenetic analysis
- Comparative genomics
- Pangenome analysis among other things...
I’m currently a Bioinformatics Specialist at the Puerto Rico Public Health Lab, where I:
- Process samples & perform NGS sequencing
- Analyze sequencing data for surveillance of infectious diseases
I’m passionate about bioinformatics and everything "micro." My main interests include:
- Human & plant pathogens
- Probiotic microbes
- Genomics & pathogen surveillance
Wet lab and basic research
- PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR
- NGS library preparation
- In vitro testing of microorganisms for various phenotypic traits
Applied research
- Experience working with soil-less based (hydroponic) systems
Bioinformatics and other things Data
- Linux command line
- Bash scripting
- R (data visualization, report generation, statistical analysis)
- Automated reports with Quarto
