Setting Up a Tracker

Tracking the locations you have checked is a great way to make the randomizer more fun and manageable. Below are a couple of options we recommend.

PopTracker (If you want map tracking)

PopTracker Example

PopTracker is compatible with the Z2R package originally built for EmoTracker. More importantly, it loads the map tracker faster than EmoTracker. Currently, it does not load the variant without the map tracker (if you want to use that variant, see EmoTracker below).

Step 1: Download PopTracker

Download PopTracker from the official releases page and unzip/install it: ➡️ PopTracker on GitHub

Step 2: Download the Zelda II Randomizer Pack

Download the tracker pack by Dudude Dude: ➡️ Z2R Tracker Pack

Step 3: Install the Pack

The easiest way:

  • Start PopTracker and drag & drop the downloaded tracker pack (.zip file) directly into the PopTracker window (do not unpack it).

Alternative method (if drag & drop doesn’t work):

  • Copy or unpack the .zip file into one of these folders:

    • EXEDIR/packs (not on macOS)
    • HOME/PopTracker/packs
    • Documents/PopTracker/packs
    • CWD/packs

Step 4: Load the Pack

  1. With PopTracker open, click the Load button in the top left corner.
  2. Choose Z2R Tracker.
  3. Select the Preliminary 4.4 Randomizer Support with Mapping variant for map tracking.

EmoTracker

EmoTracker Example

EmoTracker is another great tracker. However, note that it is slow to load if you are using the variant with a map tracker.

Step 1: Download EmoTracker

Download and install EmoTracker from the official site: ➡️ EmoTracker

Step 2: Install the Zelda II Randomizer Pack

  1. Open EmoTracker.
  2. Open the Package Manager by clicking the Package Manager button to the right of the window title.
  3. Locate and install Z2R Tracker by Dudude Dude.

Step 3: Select the Variant

  • Choose “Preliminary 4.4 Randomizer Support” (no mapping).

Tracker Usage Tips

Tracking Palace Items from Hints

If you get a hint for an item being in a palace, you can mark which item it is by right-clicking that palace item location - it will show as a P-bag at first - then right-click on the appropriate item and the P-bag icon will change to that item.
