🌊 DeepMap

Explore the world's most extreme locations.

DeepMap is a zero-dependency, open-source geospatial exploration engine designed to map, analyze, and investigate some of the most remote, dangerous, mysterious, and fascinating locations on Earth.

Unlike traditional mapping software built around roads, businesses, and navigation, DeepMap focuses on exploration targets:

  • 🌊 Deep ocean trenches
  • 🏔️ Mountain expeditions
  • 🏛️ Ancient structures
  • 🚨 Restricted zones
  • ☢️ Hazardous environments
  • 🔬 Scientific outposts
  • 🌋 Volcanoes
  • 🏜️ Extreme deserts
  • 🗿 Lost civilizations
  • 🧭 Global points of interest

DeepMap combines coordinate mapping, terrain profiling, environmental hazard analysis, and location intelligence into a lightweight terminal-based exploration platform.

🌍 Why DeepMap?

Most mapping software answers:

"How do I get there?"

DeepMap asks:

"What is there, how dangerous is it, and what makes it interesting?"

The project is designed for exploration, discovery, terrain analysis, and environmental intelligence—not tourism or traditional navigation.

✨ Features

🌐 Coordinate Mapping

Convert latitude and longitude coordinates into structured exploration grid sectors.

Example:

Latitude : 23.4162
Longitude: 25.6628

Grid ID:
23.0_25.0

📡 Terrain Intelligence

Classify and profile environments including:

  • 🌊 Ocean
  • 🏜️ Desert
  • 🏔️ Mountain
  • 🚨 Restricted Zones

Each location can store environmental metadata and navigation friction values.

🧭 Interest Point Exploration

Investigate some of the world's most fascinating locations:

  • Mount Everest
  • Mariana Trench
  • Area 51
  • Great Pyramid of Giza
  • Sahara Desert
  • Chernobyl Exclusion Zone
  • Yellowstone Supervolcano
  • Titanic Wreck Site
  • Snake Island
  • Antarctic Research Stations

⚠️ Hazard Analysis

View environmental risks associated with specific locations.

Examples:

  • Extreme altitude
  • Avalanches
  • Hypoxia
  • Radiation exposure
  • Hydrostatic pressure
  • Extreme temperatures
  • Restricted military access
  • Volcanic activity
  • Sandstorms

🛰️ Geospatial Discovery

Query known exploration targets and points of interest through local databases and optional online geospatial services.

💾 Local Persistence

Store mapped sectors and exploration records locally using JSON.

No database required.

No cloud dependency required.

🔒 Local-First Design

DeepMap runs entirely on your machine.

DeepMap Does NOT:

  • ❌ Track users
  • ❌ Upload coordinates
  • ❌ Collect telemetry
  • ❌ Require cloud accounts
  • ❌ Require subscriptions

DeepMap Does:

  • ✅ Store data locally
  • ✅ Operate offline
  • ✅ Use local JSON files
  • ✅ Give users full ownership of data

🌍 Exploration Categories

DeepMap is designed to support a wide variety of exploration targets.
