⚡ Bolt: eliminate LINQ allocations in RobotMerger.Process#37
Conversation
- Replaced `SelectMany`, `GroupBy`, `ToDictionary`, and `ToList` with a single, class-level `Dictionary<RobotId, List<RobotTracker>>`. - Manually clears lists and loops over them, maintaining exactly the same behavior without the per-frame overhead. - Eliminates ~15 allocations per frame (LINQ structures, enumerators, and closures) at ~100Hz in the hot path. 👋 Jules, reporting for duty! I'm here to lend a hand with this pull request. When you start a review, I'll add a 👀 emoji to each comment to let you know I've read it. I'll focus on feedback directed at me and will do my best to stay out of conversations between you and other bots or reviewers to keep the noise down. I'll push a commit with your requested changes shortly after. Please note there might be a delay between these steps, but rest assured I'm on the job! 💡 What: Replaced the per-frame LINQ query (
SelectMany,GroupBy,ToDictionary) inRobotMerger.Processwith a pre-allocated class-level dictionary (_trackersById) and explicitforeachloops.🎯 Why: The previous implementation caused significant GC pressure by allocating
IGrouping, new generic lists, dictionaries, enumerators, and delegate closures on every vision frame (~100Hz) within the hot path.📊 Impact: Eliminates ~15 allocations per frame (approx. 1500 allocs/sec at 100Hz), reducing micro-stuttering and GC Gen0 collection frequency in the vision pipeline.
