Real-world industrial troubleshooting cases from the factory floor — anonymized problems and solutions.
🔧 "What happens when a valve driver doesn't match the coil?"
I work as an Industrial Electrician in Germany. This repo documents real troubleshooting cases I encounter — stripped of company/machine identities, focused on the technical problem and solution.

# Proportional Valve Not Responding After Driver Replacement
## Symptoms
- Valve not responding to control signal
- Driver LED showing normal operation
- PLC output confirmed active (A2.3 / Ventil Ansteuerung)
## Field Observations
- Original driver: 24V, PWM frequency 200Hz
- New driver: 24V, PWM frequency 1kHz
- Valve coil: Rated for low-frequency PWM
## Root Cause
Coil impedance mismatch — high-frequency PWM caused insufficient
current flow through the inductive coil.
## Solution
Replaced with frequency-compatible driver (200Hz PWM).
## Lessons Learned
- Always check PWM frequency compatibility, not just voltage
- Valve coil inductance matters for driver selectionYou'll see German terms in the cases — that's how they appear in real systems:
| German | English |
|---|---|
| Freigabe | Enable/Release |
| Störung | Fault |
| Sollwert | Setpoint |
| Istwert | Actual value |
| Ventil Ansteuerung | Valve control |
| Motorschutz | Motor protection |
