📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes

    • Improved prediction handling for classification and regression tasks. Classification probabilities are assigned to their corresponding class indices.
  • Configuration

    • Removed the command-line option for enabling KV caching from the BeyondArena and TabArena benchmarks.
    • KV caching is enabled by default in the tabular model, so benchmark runs use cached predictions unless configured otherwise.

The benchmark entry points no longer expose the KV-cache option. SDMModel retains raw context tensors and uses updated prediction paths, including revised classification probability assignment.

Changes: Tabular model inference

Layer / File(s) Summary
Update KV-cache configuration
benchmark/tabular/beyondarena/main.py, benchmark/tabular/tabarena/main.py, benchmark/tabular/model.py
Both entry points remove the --enable-kv-cache option and its model configuration entry. SDMModel now defaults kv_cache to True.
Retain raw model contexts
benchmark/tabular/model.py
_fit stores the recipe and CPU copies of raw feature and target contexts. Device changes no longer move the recipe processors.
Update model prediction paths
benchmark/tabular/model.py
With KV caching, prediction calls model.predict. Otherwise, it restores the saved RNG state and calls the model with raw contexts and the recipe. Regression returns the mean numerical output across estimators. Classification output columns map to integer class indices.

Multiclass predictions can fail, and moving a fitted model to another device can break prediction. Resolve the classification failure before merging.

Keep KV caching enabled in both benchmark configurations.

Both entrypoints omit kv_cache, so SDMModel uses its False default and executes the uncached self.model(...) path. Add the explicit setting to preserve the intended cached benchmark behavior.

Set kv_cache explicitly to true in the configuration dictionaries used by both
the TabArena and BeyondArena benchmark entrypoints so SDMModel uses its cached
execution path in both configurations.

🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win

Reduce the estimator dimension before classification assignment.

ICLModel.predict() and the uncached ICLModel.forward() return outputs with shape [E, ..., R, *]. The concrete SDMTabICLv2Model default is 8 estimators. Therefore, out.numerical can be 3D, while probabilities[:, columns] is 2D. The assignment can raise a NumPy shape-mismatch error.

Restore the fitted recipe processor move in _set_device for the default kv-cache path.

With kv_cache now defaulting to True, the removed processor move no longer runs for the default configuration. If the adapter is moved to another device after fit, predict can run the query through fitted processors whose buffers remain on the fitting device, which can raise a device-mismatch error.

Update _set_device to also move the fitted recipe’s feature, target, and output
processors to the requested device when the model cache is present, so predict
uses processors on the same device as the model. Leave the existing model move
and _device assignment intact.
