Does it actually keep up with this speed? I think we're currently setting it to 40MHz.

Didn't actually noticed any peoblems with this speed. But actually it should be 83.5 Mhz, accordingly to latest designs that i used, I will update it. Maybe you meant rtc frequency? It's ~41 MHz
