DEM Elevation Analysis in R

Project Overview

This project analyzes elevation classes using DEM (Digital Elevation Model) data in R. The study focuses on two sub-districts: Siatas Barita and Muara Batang Toru.

Objectives

  • Read raster and vector spatial data
  • Check and match coordinate reference systems (CRS)
  • Clip DEM data by administrative boundaries
  • Classify elevation into three classes
  • Calculate the area of each elevation class
  • Produce thematic maps and output tables

Study Areas

  • Siatas Barita
  • Muara Batang Toru

Elevation Classes

  • Low: 0–200 m
  • Medium: 200–500 m
  • High: >500 m

Tools and Libraries

  • R
  • terra
  • sf
  • dplyr

Skills Demonstrated

  • Spatial data processing in R
  • Raster clipping and masking
  • CRS checking and transformation
  • Elevation classification
  • Area calculation from raster classes
  • Map output generation

Main Script

  • mini_project_dem.R

Output Maps

DEM - Siatas Barita DEM - Muara Batang Toru
Classification - Siatas Barita Classification - Muara Batang Toru

Output Table

  • tabel_luas_ketinggian.csv

Project Value

This project demonstrates basic spatial data analysis skills in R, including raster processing, vector handling, CRS matching, spatial clipping, raster classification, and area calculation.
