Summary

Adds unit tests in cmd/internal/secretstore/options_test.go for invocationResolver: resolved passphrase reuse, retry after a failed prompt, empty Material() before resolution, and one prompt under concurrent callers. Test-only; no product code changes.

Why

invocationResolver handles passphrase prompts and the material inherited by detached workers (cmd/workspace/up/detach.go). A regression could re-prompt users or give a worker the wrong credential. Tests inject prompt, environment, and remembered-passphrase fakes.

Validation

  • Worker validation on head bfcca591ae04f274cfc835a98e440e158adf2c12: focused package tests with -race -count=3, 200 focused test repetitions under -race, go vet, gofmt, and golangci-lint passed.
  • The concurrency test deterministically waits for 15 callers to block on the resolver mutex. With the mutex removed, the focused test failed 3/3 runs.
  • Current-head GitHub CI is still running.

Reviews

  • CodeRabbit CLI: fresh review on current head completed with 0 findings.
  • CodeRabbit GitHub: the earlier review on 4b4048ec found a concurrency-test gap, addressed in the current head. GitHub reports Review rate limited on the current head; no fresh GitHub review is available yet.
  • Greptile: no current-head review or status observed yet.

Auto-merge

Eligible after current-head CI and all required review gates pass. Final diff: 171 added test lines, 0 deleted, 0 non-test lines, 1 file.

📝 Walkthrough

The change adds tests for invocationResolver. They cover successful prompt resolution and reuse, retry after a failed prompt, Material() before and after resolution, and concurrent callers sharing one prompt.

Explanation

The title "test(secretstore): cover invocation unlock caching" follows Conventional Commits form and names the main change: new unit tests for invocationResolver's unlock caching in cmd/internal/secretstore. It matches the raw summary and PR objectives, which both describe test-only coverage of resolved material reuse, retry after failed prompts, empty Material() before resolution, and single prompting under concurrency.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description is mostly complete and matches the repository template's intent. It states the purpose (unit tests for invocationResolver covering passphrase reuse, retry after failed prompt, empty Material() before resolution, and single prompt under concurrency), explains why the change matters (detached worker credential inheritance in cmd/workspace/up/detach.go), and gives validation details. Gaps: the template's 'What and why' section has no 'Fixes #' or 'Refs #' issue reference (it is not stated as 'none'), the 'Type of change' checkboxes are not marked, the 'AI assistance' section is absent, the 'Testing' section does not name an integration (e2e) test or explain why none is needed (the change is unit-test only, and the template asks for a reason), the 'Checklist' is not addressed (CLA, mise run cli:lint:ci, mise run cli:test, docs), and 'Notes for reviewers' is absent. The description also says the change is test-only, which supports a 'No integration test needed' justification that was not stated explicitly.

The CI failure was caused by the branch being 12 commits behind main: #1666 fixed the short-mode ghcredentials timeout on main. This PR is rebased onto that fix; CI is running on 4b4048e.

Pin reuse of resolved passphrase material, retry after failed prompt, empty Material before resolution, and single prompt under concurrent callers.
Remove the inline comment that restated the reuse test. Replace the repeated unlock purpose with a constant (goconst) and use WaitGroup.Go in the concurrency test (modernize).

Do not release the prompt on promptStarted alone.

ready.Done() runs before resolver.ResolvePassphrase, and promptStarted is emitted only after the first call reaches the prompt. Closing releasePrompt then can let the first call finish before another caller enters ResolvePassphrase. The calls can still run serially, so the one-prompt assertion does not prove concurrent contention.

Use a test seam that signals at ResolvePassphrase entry, or another deterministic mechanism that proves all callers entered before releasing the first prompt. Do not treat the ready barrier as entry synchronization or add an unconditional test barrier to the production path.
