Summary

  • refreshSubOptions now calls retrieveSubOptions for guards, fetch, prune, value drop, child setup, and graph insert.
  • It keeps only resolveDynamicOptions, wrapped as resolve dynamic sub options.
  • retrieveSubOptions returns nil only on guard misses; on success it returns the non-nil map from resolveSubOptions.

Why

The sub-option lifecycle was duplicated in two functions, so guard or ordering changes had to land twice. Error strings, ordering, and mutation behavior are unchanged.

Validation

  • mise run cli:format: exit 0
  • mise run cli:lint:ci: exit 0, 0 issues
  • go test -count=1 ./pkg/options/...: exit 0, both packages, rerun after rebase onto origin/main f8bc546c7
  • Existing pkg/options table tests cover nested sub-options through the refresh-to-dynamic path. No new test added, to avoid duplicating that coverage.

CodeRabbit CLI

Not completed. Two local attempts were rejected by the free OSS quota (3 included reviews used; reset about 13 minutes). Not re-run. GitHub CodeRabbit remains the gating review.

Auto-merge

Eligible: yes. Non-test added+removed lines: 28 (4 insertions, 24 deletions), 1 file.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Refactor
    • Dynamic sub-option handling has been consolidated. When no sub-options are returned, resolution now stops without processing them. Existing eligibility checks and handling of available options remain in place; no new user-facing capabilities are described in this change.

📝 Walkthrough

refreshSubOptions now uses retrieveSubOptions to obtain and process dynamic sub-options. When the helper returns nil, the method returns without resolving dynamic options.

Changes: Sub-option resolution

Layer / File(s) Summary
Retrieve and resolve sub-options
pkg/options/resolver/resolve.go
refreshSubOptions delegates retrieval and processing to retrieveSubOptions. It returns when the helper returns nil; otherwise, it resolves the returned definitions.

Explanation

The title uses Conventional Commits form (refactor(options)) and names the main change: refreshSubOptions now reuses retrieveSubOptions. The raw summary confirms this change in pkg/options/resolver/resolve.go, where refreshSubOptions calls retrieveSubOptions and drops about 24 lines of duplicated logic. The title is concise and specific.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

No functions found in the changed files to evaluate docstring coverage. Skipping docstring coverage check. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 0 functions across 1 files.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description covers the change, the reason for it, and validation. It does not follow the template fully. The 'Fixes #' line is left blank, with no issue number or 'none'. The 'Type of change' checklist is not marked, though the refactor is clear from the title. The 'AI assistance' section is not completed; the author does not tick either option. The 'Testing' section does not tick an integration-test option or give the 'No integration test needed, because:' reason in the template form, though the author does explain existing table-test coverage. The Checklist items (cli:lint:ci, cli:test, CLA) are not ticked, though the author reports lint and test results. The 'Auto-merge' and 'CodeRabbit CLI' sections are not in the template.

Resolution

Fill in the 'Fixes #' line with an issue number or 'none'. Tick the 'Refactor (no behavior change)' type. Complete the AI assistance section by ticking one option and filling in the table, or tick 'No AI tools were used'. In the Testing section, tick 'No integration test needed, because:' and name the existing spec that covers the path (for example, the pkg/options table tests). Tick the checklist items that the author has verified, or state why they do not apply. Remove the non-template 'Auto-merge' and 'CodeRabbit CLI' sections, or move that information to 'Notes for reviewers'. Remove the placeholder comment lines so no template placeholders remain.

CodeRabbit completed with no actionable comments; Greptile 5/5 on this head; zero review threads; commit signature verified. Description warning disposition: this unattended refactor follows the required devsy-auto-refactor body sections (including CodeRabbit CLI and Auto-merge), rather than the generic template. No code changes needed. Policy verified: one surface file, +4/-24 non-test lines, behavior and public API unchanged, no excluded paths or test changes.
