feat(recording): delete a project's recordings along with the project - #1381
Deleting a project can now also remove its recordings. The confirm on a project's row in Load Project offers Also move its recordings to the Trash (size) (Recycle Bin on Windows), switched off by default.
Which recordings: takes in OpenScreen's recordings folders (the current one and the default) that the project's assets point at, with every file recorded beside them: the video, .cursor.json, .session.json and -webcam files. A video imported from anywhere else is never deleted.
Shared takes are kept: a take another project also uses is left alone, and the row names that project.
Unreadable projects block it: if any other project file fails to parse, it can't be checked for shared takes, so all recordings are kept and the row says why. The delete re-checks this, and if a file broke after the dialog opened it deletes nothing.
Trash first: recordings are removed before the project. If the Trash refuses (some Linux setups and drives), nothing is deleted and the row asks Delete them permanently?
Deleted files are dropped from media-links.registry.json.
New strings are in all 15 locales. The media-library docs and the manual e2e checklist are updated.

Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
When deleting a project, choose to keep its recordings, move them to the system Trash or Recycle Bin, or permanently delete them.
Recordings used by other projects are kept, and the project list explains why recordings were retained.
If moving recordings to the Trash or Recycle Bin fails, you can confirm permanent deletion instead.
Project recordings remain untouched by default. Deletion that includes recordings is blocked if project files can’t be read, helping protect recordings that may still be in use.
Documentation
Updated media-library guidance for project deletion and recording management.
…oes not parse
A project that fails to parse is left out of the list the delete checks for
other users of a recording, so a take it shares could be trashed with the
project being deleted. While any project file is unreadable, the dialog
offers no Trash and says why, and the delete itself refuses to remove
recordings.
Project deletion can now include recordings stored in configured OpenScreen recording folders. The flow checks ownership, keeps recordings used by other projects, and supports moving eligible files to Trash or permanently removing them after a failed Trash operation.
Project reads now report unreadable file paths. Recording discovery groups matching files and companions into sets, excludes recordings referenced by other projects, and reports unreadable project files when they prevent ownership checks.
Service disposal and registry cleanup electron/native-bridge/services/aiEditionService.ts, electron/media/mediaLinksRegistry.ts, electron/media/mediaLinksRegistry.test.ts, electron/native-bridge/services/aiEditionService.deleteRecordings.test.ts
The service reports project recording counts and sizes, then handles the requested disposal before deleting the project. Disposed paths are removed from the media-links registry. Tests cover keep, Trash, unreadable project files, and Trash failure.
Native recordings API src/native/contracts.ts, electron/ipc/handlers.ts, electron/ipc/nativeBridge.ts, src/native/client.ts, src/native/browserShim.ts
Native contracts and IPC now support recording queries and disposal choices. The browser shim returns an empty recording result.
The confirmation displays recording details and offers keep or Trash choices. If Trash fails, it offers permanent deletion. Tests, translations, and documentation cover the flow.
Issue 1376 — This change adds recording deletion to the project deletion flow. Direct recording browsing and multi-select remain outside this change.

feat(recording): delete a project's recordings along with the project
Oct 24, 2026
Thanks @marcgabe15, this is a careful take on #1376: shared takes, imported videos and unreadable projects are all handled, and the Trash-first order is the right call.
Before this goes to review, could you add:
a short screen recording of the Load Project confirm, with the checkbox on, one shared take and one Trash refusal if you can trigger it;
the results of the manual checks you added to manual-e2e-checklist.md, with the OS you ran them on.
CI and CodeRabbit are still running; please address any CodeRabbit threads once they land.

Validate the recordings disposal value before it reaches deleteProject.
request.payload.recordings comes from the renderer. The AiEditionRecordingsDisposal type exists only at compile time. At runtime, any value other than undefined or "keep" starts the disposal path. This includes null, "Trash", and any other string.
removeRecordingSets then uses the else branch for every disposal value except "trash". That branch is fs.rm, a permanent delete with no Trash step. A malformed value therefore permanently deletes recordings.
The mcp.* cases in this file already check renderer input. Apply the same check here, so a bad value fails as INVALID_REQUEST.

Fix the grammar in the relative clause.
"except any another project still uses" is ungrammatical. LanguageTool also flagged it. Add "that" so the clause reads correctly.
