add cancel process execution and clean process data - #129
The monitor server adds process cancellation and status-gated deletion. The worker receives cancellation messages, checks cancellation during execution, and runs load-flow, security-analysis, and short-circuit computations through cancellable asynchronous tasks.
Changes: Process cancellation
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Shared status and monitor-side cancellation monitor-commons/.../processexecution/*, monitor-server/.../processexecution/*, monitor-server/.../MonitorController.java, monitor-server/.../NotificationService.java, monitor-server/.../S3RestClient.java, monitor-server/src/main/resources/config/application.yaml, monitor-server/src/test/...
The shared execution types add cancellation statuses. The monitor server adds a cancellation endpoint, publishes cancellation messages, and only permits deletion for executions in terminal statuses. Canceled-execution cleanup also removes result, report, debug-file, step, and resource-reference data.
The worker accepts cancellation messages and tracks registered executions and active computation futures. Its process and step orchestrators check cancellation and set canceled statuses and completion times.
The three computation steps use TaskManager to run asynchronous computations. Cancellation exceptions bypass their general error-reporting paths. Their tests now stub and verify asynchronous runner calls.
Resolve the cancellation-state race and the previously reported test-build failure before merging. Large debug directories also need bounded deletion requests to avoid incomplete cleanup.

cancelProcess reads the current status, then updates it separately. A worker update between those operations can make the cancellation apply a stale transition. Since status updates currently accept any incoming status, a late worker update can also overwrite CANCELED or CANCELING. This can lose the cancellation request or leave an execution stuck in CANCELING. We’ve deferred transition guards to next sprint.
Cleanup can stop partway and leave resources behind
Cancellation sets the execution to CANCELED before deleting its results, report, debug files, steps, and resource references. If an external deletion fails, the remaining cleanup stops. Repeated cancellation requests resend the worker message but don’t retry cleanup; deleting the execution can also remove the references needed for a cleanup retry. Cleanup should be retryable and the execution record should remain until external cleanup succeeds.

🟡 Changes recommended
Cancellation races can overwrite terminal states or clean resources while workers remain active, while cleanup failures can leave resources stranded without a retry path.
Poll a lightweight status endpoint instead of GET /executions/{id}.
Each cancellation check requests the full execution. The monitor server then calls userIdentityRestClient.getUserIdentities(...), although the worker needs only the execution status. Expose a status-only endpoint backed by getExecutionStatus, and use it in both cancellation methods.
The identity client currently catches RestClientException and returns empty identities, so an identity-service failure does not support the claimed FAILED transition.

Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.
Replace the generic RuntimeException with a specific exception.
SonarCloud flags this line. ProcessExecutionService in the same module already throws PowsyblException for S3 failures. Use the same type so callers can catch S3 cleanup failures without catching every RuntimeException.

- throw new RuntimeException("S3 deletion failed for " + response.errors().size() + " object(s) in directory: " + directoryKey);+ throw new PowsyblException("S3 deletion failed for " + response.errors().size() + " object(s) in directory: " + directoryKey);
Add import com.powsybl.commons.PowsyblException; to this file.

Fix the constructor arity mismatch in StepExecutionServiceTest.
StepExecutionService declares only two final dependencies: Notificator and ReportRestClient. Its @RequiredArgsConstructor generates a two-argument constructor. The test at line 63 passes three arguments, including taskManager. The test module does not compile, so CI fails before any test runs.
Choose one correction:
Remove the taskManager argument from the test. The @Mock TaskManager taskManager field then has no use in this test.
Add a TaskManager dependency to StepExecutionService if the step needs it for cancellation.
The minimal correction is the test-side change:
Suggested fix
- stepExecutionService = new StepExecutionService(notificationService, reportRestClient, taskManager);+ stepExecutionService = new StepExecutionService(notificationService, reportRestClient);

monitor-server/src/main/java/org/gridsuite/monitor/server/clients/S3RestClient.java:101-104 🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win
Split directory deletion into batches of at most 1,000 keys.
If directoryKey contains more than 1,000 objects, this single DeleteObjects request exceeds the S3 limit. On the execution-deletion path, the server removes the execution record before making this request. A failed request can therefore leave debug objects without an execution record from which to retry cleanup. Send bounded batches and check each batch for per-object errors. (docs.aws.amazon.com)
