Add meili multi-search, the one route of POST /multi-search.
Contract
The command name and flags derive from its routes by the naming rules of docs/contract/commands.md, and each route is reachable by a distinct set of flags, or the exception is recorded with its reason (or this pull request changes the contract and nothing else)
Output goes through src/lib/output.ts, errors through src/lib/errors.ts
The command never waits for a human: no prompt, no question, no $EDITOR; a delete command spreads BaseCommand.confirmFlags and its examples carry --yes
The command never speaks HTTP itself: the SDK or the generated client only, no fetch outside src/lib/clients/
Tests
--help snapshot added or updated on purpose
JSON output snapshot for one success case per route and one error case
Integration test added (Meilisearch API commands only)
pnpm lint, pnpm typecheck, pnpm test pass locally
Simplicity
Nothing in the diff exists for a case the API cannot produce, a caller that does not exist, or a generality nobody asked for (rule 16)
Anything shared lives in src/lib/, is used by this command, and is named below
Docs
docs/contract/ updated for every name, flag, variable or code this change adds or renames, or nothing to update
The ADRs that touch this change were read; what they decide still holds, or a new ADR says what changed
No accepted ADR was edited. A new ADR was added if a decision changed.
Housekeeping
oclif.manifest.json regenerated
Changeset added, or the change is invisible to users of the package (docs of this repository, tests, CI)
New dependency justified below, or none added
Notes for the reviewer
No shared code added, no dependency. The command is 46 lines and reuses connectionFlags, bodyInputFlags, readJsonObjectBody and asJson. The POST /multi-search exception row already existed in commands.md and api-naming.ts; this pull request only adds the row to the routes table, as #29 and #30 did for theirs.
Three things worth a look, in the order I would read them:
Two flags, both JSON text. The body has exactly two first-level fields, so rule 6 gives --queries and --federation, and rule 7 makes both JSON text: an array of objects and an object. --federation null rides on asJson and sends a JSON null, which the route reads as "answer each query separately" — no null branch in the command. The per-query search parameters are not flattened into flags: they belong to the objects inside --queries, which is where the route puts them.
A missing index answers 400 here, not 404.POST /multi-search wraps it: Inside \.queries[0]`: Index `missing` not found.withcode: index_not_foundand status 400, so the CLI exits 1, not 4. The unit snapshot and the integration test both pin that, because it is the one place where this command's exit code differs fromsearch. A body with no queriesis left to the API too, which answersMissing field `queries``: the CLI invents no refusal of its own.
--output ndjson is refused, although the non-federated response carries results. This is the first command whose body has a results array while not being a list route, and output.md ties ndjson to list routes, not to the field name. The refusal is the default of this.output, not a check in the command. If you would rather the phrase in output.md said so explicitly, that is a contract pull request of its own and I am happy to open it.
Ran the simplify skill on the diff. What it changed: the two-field body merge is now two ifs, the shape get documents uses, instead of the Object.entries filter search needs for its twenty-five fields; the multi-search msw handler answers the envelope it is given in three lines instead of re-implementing federation in forty; the integration fixtures fill both indexes in one Promise.all (3.3 s → 1.3 s). What it raised and I did not do: the rule-8 merge block now exists in three command files (search, update settings, here), and its comment has already drifted between them. A mergeJsonObjectBody in src/lib/input.ts would carry it once, but it touches two commands this pull request does not own, so it belongs in its own change.
The command carries the two first-level fields of the body as JSON flags,
`--queries` and `--federation`, as rules 6 and 7 of the command contract
derive them, and `--data` or `--file` carries a whole body that a flag of
the same field overrides.

The CLI adds meili multi-search for sending multiple index queries to POST /multi-search. It accepts queries and optional federation settings, supports request-body input, and includes command and integration tests.
Changes: Multi-search command
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Register and run multi-search oclif.manifest.json, src/commands/multi-search.ts, docs/contract/commands.md, .changeset/first-version.md
The CLI registers the multi-search command and documents the API mapping. The command reads an optional body, applies --queries and --federation overrides, then submits the request.
Test command request and output behavior test/commands/multi-search.test.ts, test/helpers/meilisearch-handlers.ts
Mock-server tests check request-body construction, output, rejected ndjson output, and API errors.
Verify requests against Meilisearch test/integration/meilisearch/multi-search.test.ts
Integration tests check ordered and federated results, query overrides, missing queries, and missing indexes. The tests create and delete their indexes.
Multi-search implements the stated overrides. No merge-blocking issue was identified.

Explanation
The title "Add meili multi-search" matches the main change. The PR adds a new CLI command, meili multi-search, that maps to POST /multi-search. The title is short, specific, and names the command a teammate would search for. It does not describe the federation option or the body-override behavior, but it does not need to cover every detail.

Autofix · Keep fixing CodeRabbit findings and required CI, and resolving merge conflicts
Comment @coderabbitai help to get the list of available commands.
The existing tests cover --queries overriding --data, but no test sends both a body federation value and a conflicting --federation flag. A regression in that override path could pass the current suite.

The override is structural, not per field: run() spreads the parsed body first, then applies each given flag over it. The test above it already proves that structure with --queries, and --federation alone is covered by "sends the two body fields as the JSON they spell, null included". A second override case would exercise the same two lines a second time, which rule 16 of CLAUDE.md asks us to delete rather than add ("a test that checks the same thing as another").
