Down-alert timing now stays within a safe range when configured with extremely large, negative, or non-numeric values, preventing invalid cutoff calculations.
Tests
Added coverage for extreme and negative down-alert settings and their resulting notification cutoffs.
The notification code now converts the configured down-alert duration to an integer and clamps it between zero and 100 years before calculating the cutoff. Tests cover extreme and negative values, and the clearing-method docstring describes the cutoff used for notification selection.
Changes: Device Down cutoff
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Bound and apply alert-down duration server/messaging/reporting.py, server/models/notification_instance.py, test/backend/test_notification_down_clear_timezone.py
A new helper converts the configured duration and clamps it to the supported range. get_notifications() uses the bounded value. The docstring identifies the cutoff used for event selection, and tests check very large and negative settings.

The current assertion only checks that the cutoff is earlier than the current time. A regression that maps an above-maximum value to a zero-minute cutoff would still pass. Assert that the cutoff is approximately MAX_ALERT_DOWN_MINUTES before the current time.

Strengthen `test_huge_value_does_not_raise` to verify the cutoff reflects the
configured maximum window, not merely that it is in the past. Capture the
current time before and after `_run_get_notifications`, then assert the cutoff
falls within the elapsed-time-tolerant bounds for `MAX_ALERT_DOWN_MINUTES`
before now, importing that constant if needed.
